Wand Lighting Charms

The Wand-Lighting Charm (Lumos) is a charm, a light-creation spell, used to illuminate the tip of the caster's wand; this light is fairly warm. It was created in 1772 by Levina Monkstanley to help her look for a fallen quill on a dusty corner. One of the simplest and most useful spells, it not only illuminates the wand tip, but can repel spectral foes such as Gytrashes and malevolent spirits. If one charges the spell properly, it will appear lemon-yellow; if one over-charges it, the charm will appear as a vibrant scarlet. It is possible this charm is not affected by The Trace, perhaps because of its simplicity or because it resembles torch light so closely. If one listens closely, they can hear a soft humming sound. The following picture is the hand movement.

Lumos Maxima is the incantation of the strongest variation of the Wand-Lighting Charm. It produces a blinding flash of light from the very tip of the wand; it can be thrown far off of the wand, illuminating the surrounding area for several minutes after its initial casting, floating in mid-air, before darkening.

Lumos Solem is the incantation of a spell that produces a beam of light. It is possible that the quality of the light is on the warmer solar end of the spectrum; considering the known uses that the spell has been put to, it is not that much of a stretch to presume that the spell is used to conjure sunlight.
