Acromantulas
An Acromantula is a species of giant spiders, native to the rain forests of Southeast Asia, particularly Borneo where it inhabits dense jungles. Acromantulas are to be wizard-bred species, designed to guard dwellings or treasure hoards and were first created before the Ban on Experimental Breeding. They have a liking for human flesh and were first sighted in 1794. Acromantulas sport eight, black eyes (white if blind) and are typically covered in thick, black hair with a leg span that can reach up to fifteen feet. They possess a set of giant chelicerae or mouthparts, that contain highly toxic venom. Their pinchers are used to eat their live prey or to even kill their own kin. They create a clicking sound when they are agitated or excited. Acromantulas are massive arachnids who tend to spin their expansive webs high in the tree tops. They appear to look like Wolf Spiders, despite their common phonetic name to Tarantulas. A colony of Acromantulas were established in the Forbidden Forest at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. During the third task of the Triwizard Tournament, an Acromatula was positioned close to the Triwizard Cup. The Basilisk is the most feared enemy of the Acromantulas, feared so much that they don't even speak of it. With many eyes, Acromantulas fear the killing gaze of the deadly creature. Female Acromantulas are slightly larger than the male spiders. They are known wizard killers and are impossible to train and domesticate.
